Free Turbo Pedestal O-rings included with each Wicked Wheel®

The Wicked Wheel® will:

  • Reduce or Eliminate Turbo Flutter/Surge in your 1994-2003 7.3L Ford Powerstroke. 
  • Lower Exhaust Temperatures - NOT increase them
  • Increase Low-End Throttle Response - you may "feel" like your truck has more HP, but it DOES NOT
  • For use in 1994- 2003 7.3L Ford Powerstrokes
  • Is NOT intended as a horsepower mod.

The Wicked Wheel® will NOT:

  • Increase your performance
  • Increase your truck's horsepower
  • Increase or decrease boost
  • Increase or decrease fuel economy

 

FAQ

Q. Are all aftermarket compressor wheels for surge are THE SAME THING. 

A. All aftermarket compressor wheels for surge are THE SAME THING.  They have different names.  They do the same thing.  There is no magic in our wheel, we simply own the trademark. Banks has this wheel and used it first.  Theirs were different then. We use a BORG WARNER WHEEL. We believe they are now using Borg Warner as well, but haven't seen theirs so we can't confirm this.  

Other common names:  banks wheel, x-wheel, switzer wheel, high performance compressor wheel.

Q. What is the Wicked Wheel?

A. This is an original OEM 1997/early 1999 wheel. This wheel is a direct replacement for all 1994-2003 Powerstrokes.  If you need to replace yours because it is warn out, this wheel will fit.  We use Borg Warner - look for the part number: 170293 stamped into the back and you know you have the correct wheel.

Q. Is this my only option to cure surge?

A. The wheel CURES SURGE.   There are other options for this, such as the ATS Compressor Housing.  We sell both and have no reason to make false statements to push you in either direction.  THEY BOTH WORK.  It is possible that neither cure your surge 100% under extreme conditions. The only time we hear of 100% fix on trucks towing HUGE loads over max GVW or truck pulling has been using BOTH ITEMS.  One or the other will cure surge most trucks 100% of the time.  The wheel is cheaper and in most cases is all it takes to do the job.  The ATS housing works also, but is more expensive and offers no other benefits over the wheel.  PERSONAL CHOICE HERE. Choose one or the other.  Only a small percentage of trucks will need both.

The ATS housing is easier to install as you can leave the turbo on the truck. Some people leave the turbo on the truck for the Wicked Wheel install. We can't support that as it weakens the shaft.  We suggest removing the turbo and not using an impact wrench.


Instructions for installation are included with the Wicked Wheel®. Allow 4-5 hours for installation. We recommend removal of the turbo for installation.  WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF AN IMPACT WRENCH OR SCREWDIRIVERS IN THE TURBINE FOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF YOUR TURBO COMPRESSOR WHEELS!  CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE WICKED WHEEL® INSTRUCTIONS IN PDF FORMAT

The Wicked Wheel® did everything Bob said it would do!  It eliminated turbo surge completely, It also  seemed to bring my van turbo to life...... a little quicker spool , and better all around response.
