Customer Submitted truck bio: This truck started life as a 1995 F250 7.3L powerstroke, 4x2, automatic, until I purchased it two years ago with 210,000 on the odometer for $1000.00. Within two weeks of purchasing the truck I "donated" the front IFS, transmission, and driveshafts, from my old service truck, a 1992 F250. along with a Superlift 4" lift, Bully Dog gauges, Edge Evolution, and MBRP 4" exhaust. This combination worked great but the power was not as I liked and at 260,000 miles, I decided it was time for a freshen up. The engine was starting to get a little tired, compression was getting weak and that independent front suspension, even though I made it 50,000 miles just did not ride nice. So I purchased a new block and heads for an 2002. The buildup began there with what was going to be a simple engine swap. Instead the entire truck was stripped to the frame. The body was completely stripped to bare metal, patch were welded where needed and finished off with a two tone paint scheme. The frame was cleaned, treated, and painted, I removed the original rear axle and installed a refurbished 10.25 limited slip with 3.55. The front IFS was thrown to the scrap bin and a fresh Dana 60 wheeled underneath. All new brakes, rotors, etc. installed, Next the engine was built, started with stock block and crank, with Mahle ceramic coated pistons, stock rings, and Polydyne coated main and rod bearings bolted to it. The cylinder heads were cut for BBC dual valve springs with 140 seat pressure, titanium retainers with 10 deg locks, custom chromemoly pushrods, and head studs. A custom ground camshaft courtesy of Crane Cams controls the valvetrain. A custom fuel system delivers fuel to Hybrids. Air is fed currently by a van turbo, since the twins were removed.(They will come back one day). The inaccurate Bully Dog gauges were thrown out and replaced with Autometer Ultra lites. A custom dual exhaust system was fabricated. A Luk ceramic clutch was installed and a couple new u-joints to finish off the mix. The truck is still fresh with only 200 miles on the rebuild so it has not been pushed hard yet, but do not drive this truck in the rain, snow, etc. 1st through 4th gear with anything over half throttle will put you in the ditch. Boost numbers with the single turbo are around 40 psi, but there is a little bit of surge/stall since the compressor is not adequate for the amount of fuel going through the engine. Oil was pushed through a twin Stealth pump setup. Removed Stealth pump systems for three reasons: 1st - intermediate pump shaft broke, 2nd - there is a mess of hoses running over top of engine, 3rd - twin IPRs were sensitive, occasionaly hiccup especially cold. Additions for future: turbo upgrade or put the twins back on. F350 shown bottom right is next in line for a new pump and injectors. As Jason gets some time on the Adrenaline, he'll be updating us with info for this page. We're interested in hearing what it was like going from a dual setup to the single smaller pump. While we have other hybrid injector vehicles, we're interested in seeing if the Adrenaline can supply this particular truck. We may have to go with something bigger? We'll all soon see. It has happened before. |
